Fascists Out of Our Streets! United Demonstration

Once again this year, Rouen-based far-right identitarian groups are planning to organize a so-called “March of the Normans” on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

These groups hide behind supposed historical commemorations or the promotion of “Norman identity” to promote their far-right ideology, their racist and anti-immigrant hatred, their rejection of anyone who is not considered a “real French person,” their sexism, and their homophobia.

→ It is likely that nationalist groups from other cities, known for the physical violence they regularly engage in, will be present in Rouen on this occasion. They are encouraged by the anti-immigrant rhetoric of part of the political class and strengthened by the ever-growing results of the Rassemblement National and its allies.

→ These individuals - whether identitarians, neo-Nazis, royalists, fascists, or otherwise - all promote hatred of others, nationalism, and white supremacy. They foster rejection of everyone who opposes all forms of racism and discrimination and who defends democracy, social justice, and environmental justice.

All the organizations that have signed this statement - associations, trade unions, and political organizations - refuse to let the far right take over the streets and spread its racist rhetoric and vile slogans.

We know the devastating consequences of its ideology. In countries where the far right comes to power, freedoms are trampled on, rights are violated, the persecution of immigrants becomes systematic, and social policies, already under heavy attack, are wiped out. We can unfortunately already see this in municipalities governed by the RN, with the cancellation of cultural events and cuts to funding for solidarity organizations.

To fight these far-right ideologies, we are calling for a united and massive demonstration on October 17 at 5:30 p.m., starting from Place St Sever.
